The government is making preparations to recommend National Security Advisor Shanker Das Bairagi as the Ambassador to southern neighbor India.

Top notch leaders of ruling party Nepali Congress have agreed to send Bairagi as the Nepali Ambassador to India, sources have said.

According to an agreement on the ambassadorial appointments reached between CPN (UML) and NC, the latter will recommend the ambassador to India.

Incumbent National Security Advisor Bairagi, who has already served as Foreign Secretary and Chief Secretary, is being recommended as the Nepali Ambassador to India, on the NC quota.

If things go as planned, a meeting of the Council of Ministers today will recommend Bairagi as the Nepali Ambassador to India, the sources have said.

The cabinet meeting is taking place in Singha Durbar. Dr. Shankar Prasad Sharma is still continuing his services as the Ambassador to India.

The previous government led by CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Prachanda had recalled Sharma and decided to recommend former Chief Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi as the ambassador to India.
