The Janamat Party has decided to join the government.

Party Chair Chandra Kant (CK) Raut told Nepalkhabar that the Central Committee meeting of his party held in Kathmandu on Thursday for the first time decided to take part in the government.

"We have not decided on the ministry yet, however, we are prepared to pick a suitable ministry," he said.

Raut said who would lead the government was yet to be decided. "Regardless of who leads the government, we will participate in the government. We have some demands and whoever addresses them, we will support them," Raut said.

Raut's Janamat Party has won one first-past-the-post (FPTP) seat in the House of Representatives and emerged as a national party by crossing the threshold in proportional representative (PR) category.

The party, which took part in the elections for the first time ever, received 394,655 PR votes in the House of Representatives (HoR). On the basis of the PR votes received, the party has received four seats under PR system.

The Central Committee meeting also finalized four names to elect them as PR lawmakers to the HoR. According to Raut, the names were picked on the basis of clusters.

Anita Shah, Sonu Murmur, Abdul Khan, Binitha Kumari Singh and Goma Sapkota are to be elected to the HoR under PR system from the Janamat Party.

The Election Commission had asked to submit names to elect as PR lawmakers on Wednesday.
