Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba has expressed hope that her meeting with her Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar will further bolster Nepal’s ties with India.
Minister Rana, who is currently on a five-day visit to India, has held a meeting with External Affairs Minister of India, S. Jaishankar at Hyderabad House in Delhi a while ago. Issues related to bilateral interests and exchanges of cooperation were discussed during the meeting.
“I have held a bilateral meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in New Delhi,” Minister Rana writes on Facebook following the meeting, “We discussed various issues related to mutual interests, various aspects of bilateral relations and exchanges of cooperation during the meeting. I am hopeful that this visit will further bolster our centuries-old relations between Nepal and India,”
During the bilateral meeting held at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, the two leaders discussed multifaceted cooperation ranging from in energy to trade and connectivity to infrastructure development.
“We discussed the multifaceted cooperation including in energy, trade, connectivity and infrastructure development,” India’s EAM Jaishankar mentioned on X, formerly Twitter, “I am glad to note that Nepal will be exporting close to 1000 MW of electricity to India, a new milestone.”
Indian EAM further said the India’s Neighborhood First policy and unique people-to-people and cultural connect has propelled the India-Nepal relationship forward.
Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar also hosted a luncheon in honour of Foreign Minister Rana.
Minister Rana is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi this evening.
Rana will return home on August 22, wrapping her five-day visit to India.
