Last day to submit names of PR lawmaker; parties engage in internal homework

Today (Saturday) is the last day to finalize the names of lawmakers under proportional representation (PR) category of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the Provincial Assembly elections held on November 20.

The Election Commission gave until today to submit the names of those who will be elected under PR category.

For the same, political parties are engaged in the internal homework. The main political parties have called a party meeting today to decide on PR lawmakers.

The ruling party Nepali Congress (NC) has called a meeting of the party Central Working Committee at 1 pm. According to the NC, the agendas are finalizing the list of PR lawmakers and carrying out review of the elections.

Likewise, the CPN (UML) has also called a Secretariat meeting, which was postponed at the last moment on Friday, for today. UML Deputy Chief of Publicity Department Bishnu Rijal said a Secretariat meeting would convene at 11 am at the party central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur.

Likewise, the CPN (Maoist Center) has also called a meeting for today. A meeting of office bearers of the Maoist Center on Friday afternoon could not finalize the list of PR lawmakers and today's meeting will build on yesterday's agenda.

Other parties Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have also called party meetings.

The RSP has called a Central Committee meeting, the RPP called a Central Executive Committee meeting and JSP called the Central Executive Committee meeting.

In the HoR, the UML will have to send names of 34 PR lawmakers, the NC 32 and the Maoist Center 14 PR lawmakers. Similarly, RSP is gettting 13 PR seats and JSP and RPP both are getting 7 seats each.

The Janmat Party has already finalized its four PR lawmakers.
