Ambassador of Nepal to the Kingdom of Denmark Prof. Dr. Ram Swarth Ray presented his Letter of Credence to Queen Margrethe II of Denmark amidst a special ceremony held at Amalienborg Palace, Copenhagen, on Friday.
Following the presentation of credentials, Ambassador Ray received an audience with the queen and conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of the President Bidya Devi Bhandari for the personal good health and happiness of the queen as well as for the continued peace, progress, and prosperity of the people of Denmark.
On the ocassion, the Ambassador expressed happiness for the excellent relations Nepal and Denmark have been enjoying since the establishment of diplomatic relations on December 15, 1967. He also thanked the Danish government for partnering in Nepal’s various development sectors such as education, governance, health, climate, human rights, 2006 peace process, among others.
The Ambassador expressed commitment to put all his efforts towards further strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries. He expressed hope that Denmark will review its decision to close its Embassy in Nepal in 2017 and will re-establish its Embassy in Kathmandu in near future.
The Ambassador briefed Queen Margrethe II about the current situation in Nepal as well as the progress Nepal has made after the promulgation of the Constitution of Nepal 2015 in the areas of democracy, human rights, social inclusion, power devolution, economic development, governance, and equality and social justice.
Meanwhile, the Queen, recalling her visit to Nepal in 1969, shared fond memories of Nepal. She said Nepal is a very beautiful country. The Queen also also recalled Crown Prince Frederik André Henrik's visit to Nepal in September 2015 in the aftermath of the Gorkha earthquakes.
Spouse of the Ambassador Urmila Ray, Deputy Head of Mission Tirtha Raj Aryal, and Third Secretary Amrit Lopchan were also present during the ceremony.
