A 38-year-old man who was mourning the death of his mother has been arrested on a rape charge in Doti.
Lal Raikal, a resident of Adarsha Rural Municipality-6, was arrested, according to the District Police Office, Doti.
DSP Bhim Lal Bhattarai of DPO, Doti, said Raikal was arrested on the charge of raping a 20-year-old girl from the rural municipality.
He had also robbed the girl of Rs 30,000 after rape, according to the complaint lodged at the police station. He had returned home on Saturday night after the passing away of his mother.
Police took Raikal under control while he was morning the death of his mother at home following the funeral ceremony on Sunday.
"We took Raikal to the district headquarters on Sunday night. We will produce him at the court for a remand today," said DSP Bhattarai, "We will carry out through investigation by keeping him in police custody."
