Silver medal winner Erica Gurung has returned home after participating in the 20th Asian Senior Karate Championship held in Hangzhou, China.
Gurung was received with a warm welcome upon her arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport on Tuesday. She had also won a silver medal in the 19th Asian Sports held in Hangzhou.
Alongside Erica, athletes who participated in the Asian Junior Karate Championship and Asian-Para Karate Championship were also welcomed at the TIA.
Officials including National Sports Council Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising reached the airport to welcome the players. This is the first medal ever won by Nepal in the Asian Championship organized by the Asian Karate Federation.
Erica had reached the final by clinching a win in the match held on Friday.
Erica Gurung had defeated Isabela Britola of Philippines 4-0 in the pre-quarterfinal and Sophiya Berisleppba of Kazakhstan in the quarterfinal of the 20th Senior Karate Championship.
