The ambassador recommended to Sri Lanka, Ram Krishna Bhattarai, has withdrawn his nomination.
Bhattarai on Tuesday withdrew his nomination after he failed to submit a certificate of his Bachelor's degree. He informed the Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) about the withdrawal of his nomination a while ago, the sources have said.
Out of 17 ambassadors recommended for various countries, the nomination of 16 ambassadors were endorsed by the Committee on September 19. However, the nomination of Bhattarai was on hold due to his failure to submit the certificate of his Bachelor's degree.
Even though a PHC meeting was called for Monday to take final decision on Bhattarai's nomination, it was postponed for today due to lack of quorum.
The meeting called for 9 am today has been rescheduled for 3 pm. Bhattarai could not submit a certificate of his Bachelor's degree despite enough time given by the PHC.
Even though Bhattarai withdrew his nomination, the PHC meeting is taking place at 3 pm.
