The Election Commission is set to make an announcement on the official election of proportional representative (PR) lawmakers to the House of Representatives (HoR) tomorrow.

Yagya Prasad Bhattarai, joint secretary of the Election Commission, said the Commission is planning to announce that the PR lawmakers have been officially elected after examining the names submitted by the political parties on Saturday. He added the declaration would be made tomorrow (Monday).

In the recently concluded HoR and Provincial Assembly election, the CPN (UML) got 34 seats, Nepali Congress (NC) got 32 seats, the CPN (Maoist Center) 14 seats, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) 13 seats, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) seven seats, and the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) and the Janamat Party five seats each under PR category.

The Election Commission clarified that it would submit a comprehensive report on the General Election 2022 to President Bidya Bhandari by next week.

Joint secretary Bhattarai said there was a legal provision that the report on the election must be submitted to the President within 7 days after the official election of PR lawmakers is declared. And the Election Commission would work remaining under the legal framework.
