DPM Paudel, Chinese Vice Premier agreed to advance Kathmandu-Kerung railway

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel and Vice Premier of China Ding Xuexiang have agreed to advance several projects including Kathmandu-Kerung railway.

"The two leaders agreed to advance the projects under Trans-Himalayan Multidimensional Connectivity Network, particularly Kathmandu-Kerung railway, cross-border transmission line, Kimathanka-Hile and Hilsa-Simikot roads," the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing said issuing a press release on Friday.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Paudel held a bilateral meeting with Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang and discussed the entire gamut of bilateral relations in Beijing, the Embassy stated.

Currently, Deputy Prime Minister Paudel is visiting China.

During the meeting, Finance Minister Paudel underlined the need of working collectively to accelerate the implementation of the agreements that were agreed between the two governments and leaders in a time-bound manner.

Likewise, Chinese Vice Premier Ding emphasized the importance of practical cooperation between Nepal and China for mutual benefit.

Prior to the meeting with Chinese Vice Premier Ding, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Paudel met with Chairman of China International Development Cooperation Agency Luo Zhaohui and discussed various aspects of Nepal-China development cooperation.

During the meeting, Paudel called for further deepening cooperation in the areas of infrastructure development, connectivity, trade and transport, dry ports, among others.

Luo expressed the willingness of Chinese government to support in accelerating the ongoing projects as well as projects relating to livelihood and good governance. "The two leaders also discussed cooperation on agricultural and industrial parks as well as Madan Bhandari University of Science and Technology," according to the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing.
