Seven killed, 10 missing in Panauti landslide

Seven people have died and 10 others went missing in the landslide that occurred in Panauti Municipality of Kavre district.

The bodies of seven flood victims have been retrieved while the search for the missing people is underway, Mayor Ram Sharan Bhadari told Nepalkhabar.

"The condition of this place is very pitiable. We are collecting details of the properties damaged," said Bhandari, "Three health posts, seven concrete bridges, and one suspension bridge have been fully damaged."

He further shared that the municipality is taking stock of damaged school buildings, loss of livestock and other properties.

The downpour started since Thursday has taken a heavy toll in the Kathmandu Valley including Kavre, Ramechhap, Dhading, Sindhupalchowk.

A joint team from Nepali Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police are carrying out rescue operations.
