Two Koreans killed as landslide strikes Sindhu Beach Resort

Two Korean nationals who came to Nepal for a visit have died in the landslides.

According to DSP Niranjan Bhattarai of the District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk, they died after a landslide struck Sindhu Beach Resort in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-4, Chyane, Sindhupalchowk.

The deceased have been identified as Korean nationals -- Lee Jin-Woo and Ryu Hwa-Young.

The landslide rolling down from above struck the resort, killing three people including two Koreans who were staying in it on September 28 at 12:30 pm.

Lieutenant Colonel of Nepali Army of Bhimeshwar Municipality-8, Dolakha had also died in the landslide along with two Korean nationals.

KC and Korean national of around 35 year-old Ryu Hwa-Young had passed away on September 28 itself.

Another Korean national had gone missing in the landslide. His body was retrieved on Sunday afternoon by security personnel. The body of Lee Jin-Woo has been kept at the District Hospital, Sindhupalchowk while the bodies of KC and Ryu Hwa-Young were airlifted to TU Teaching Hospital for postmortem on Sunday itself.

The Koreans had come to visit Nepal at the invitation of KC. They had met each other during KC's previous visit to Korea.

KC had taken them to the resort. Tragically, they lost their lives in the landslide-triggered by incessant rainfall.

Approximately 200 people have lost their lives, and several remain missing, due to the devastating floods and landslides that ravaged Nepal on Friday and Saturday.
