With the all-rounder performance of captain Rohit Paudel Nepal has made a happy ending by registering a 56-run win over Oman in the ICC T20 Tri-Series held in Canada on Thursday morning.
Nepal bowed out Oman for 101 runs while the latter was chasing the 158-run target set by Nepal.
To restrict Oman from reaching the target, Kushal Bhurtel claimed the highest three wickets giving away 10 runs. Similarly, Rijan Dhakal, Sandeep Lamichhane, and Rohit Paudel took two wickets each for Nepal.
Zeeshan Maqsood's 35-run score was the highest for Oman. He hit three sixes off 30 balls. Similarly, captain Aqib Ilyas made 22 runs while Pratik Athavale contributed 12 runs. The other batsmen could not achieve double-digit runs.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss at the Maple Leaf North-West Ground, King City, Nepal notched up 157 runs losing seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Captain Rohit Paudel topped the score with 56 runs including two fours and four sixes off 44 balls while Kushal Malla and Dev Khanal contributed 19 and 18 runs. Similarly, Aasif Sheikh and Anil Sah hit 16 and 11 runs each.
In reply, Fayyaz Butt claimed the highest three wickets while Kaleemullah, Shakeel Ahmed, and Aqib Illyas took one wicket each for Oman.
Nepal will now fly to America to participate in the ODI Tri-Series involving Scotland under the ICC World Cup League 2.
