Two Indians held with  8kg gold in Hetauda

Makwanpur Police arrested two Indian nationals with more than eight kilograms of gold in the wee hours of Saturday.

They were arrested with the yellow precious metal during a security check at Ratmate check post in Hetauda-15 this morning, the District Police Office, Makwanur said.

According to SP Bishwaraj Khadka, head of Makwanpur District Police, 25-year-old Abhishek Ajinath Kuti, and Rahul Bhittihal, of the Indian State of Maharashtra, Sangali District, Pujarwadi were arrested while they were heading to Hetauda from Pathlaiya on a scooter, Bagmati Pradesh, 02-047 Pa 7503, on East-West Highway.

Eight biscuits of gold without bills were found concealed in different parts of their body during frisking, said Khadka. The gold weighed 8 kilograms, 243 grams, and 970 milligrams worth Rs 114 million 357 thousand 878 according to the market value of the gold set today.

The gold may have been imported illegally by evading the customs, according to the police.

Preparations are being made to send the arrested to the Revenue Investigation Office, Pathlaiya, Bara, for necessary action, Makwanpur Police said.
