Encouraging number of youths in Lumbini Province Assembly this time

26 out of total 87 lawmakers are 40 years old or below

The presence of youths in the Lumbini Province Assembly (PA) is encouraging this time.

Lumbini PA will have a total of 87 PA members. Of the total PA members, 26 are under 40 years of age.

According to the details with the Election Commission (EC), 10 first-past-the-post (FPTP) and 16 proportional representative (PR) candidates elected to Lumbini PA are 40 years old or below it.

Nepali Congress' Anurag Khadka and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP)'s Ambika Kafle are the youngest lawmakers in Lumbini PA. The EC records show that both were 28 years old at the time of filing nomination.

Anurag, who is the son of late NC leader Khum Bahadur Khadka, has been elected as a PA member Dang constituency 1 'B'.

Ambika is a PR lawmaker elected from the JSP under women's Khas-Arya cluster.
