The Election Commission (EC) will present the complete results of General Election-2079 to President Bidya Devi Bhandari today (Thursday) -- about three weeks after voting concluded.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Kumar Thapalia said the report is being submitted on Thursday pursuant to the constitutional provision of submission of the report to the President within seven days after the announcement of the election results.
He added that EC officials will present the report of the Province Assembly election to the Province Chief on Saturday.
According to the election results, 165 members of the House of Representatives (HoR) were elected directly and 110 were elected proportionally. According to the EC, 184 men were elected to the HoR and 350 men to the Provincial Assemblies.
According to the final results, a total of 825 people (275 HoR and 550 Province Asseblies) have been elected from the November 20 elections. A total of 91 women were elected to the HoR and 200 women to the Provincial Assemblies.
Accordingly, there has been 33.11 percent women representation in the HoR and 36.36 women representation in all the seven provinces.
In the general election 2079, 225 women and 2,186 men were directly elected for the HoR.
On the proportional side, the names of one thousand 187 female and one thousand twelve male candidates were retained in the final closed list. The candidature of 280 women and 2 thousand 943 men and 3 thousand 224 candidates for the provincial assembly were confirmed.
Towards the proportional representation (PR) side, there were names of 3,708 candidates, including 1,511 women and 2,097 men, in the final closed list. In this way, the total number of candidates in the general election was 11,542.
As many as 86 political parties were registered for the November 20 elections. Of the total parties registered, 61 parties participated in the election under first-past-the-post (FPTP) category and 47 under PR category.
