The Fifth National Day is being marked across the country today to commemorate the day when the United Nations recognized the Nepali flag.

The National Flag Day has been observed by organizing a rally at Maitighar Mandala and Basantapur this morning.

National Flag Day is being observed on Poush 1 every year.

Speaking at a rally program, Rajananda Mandabya, the founder of the national flag day campaign, said National Flag Day is being observed on Poush 1 every year to mark the day when the national flag was acknowledged and accpeted by the UN on December 16, 1962 (Poush 1, 2019).

He further said that the national flag needs to be revered and held high as it is the prestige and pride of the nation.

The day has been observed to disseminate the knowledge that the flag should be respected as a symbol of national unity and to raise awareness against the flag's misuse.
