As the parties are preoccupied to form a new government, top political leaders have intensified meetings.
In this context, CPN Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal has held meetings with top leaders of other parties.
Chair Nepal met Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) Chairman Mahanth Thakur on Sunday afternoon.
Unified Socialist General Secretary Dr. Beduram Bhusal, confirming Nepal-Thakur Sunday meet, said they discussed power sharing.
"They talked about formation of a new government," Bhusal told Nepalkhabar, adding, "In line with the agreement reached before the election, they committed to proceed ahead with the ruling alliance."
Leader Nepal also met Communist leader Bamdev Gautam the same day. However, the meeting with Gautam was not focused on power sharing, Bhusal said.
Nepal and Gautam -- two UML leaders who had been in politics together for long -- parted ways after the split of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) formed through the merger of the UML and the CPN (Maoist Center).
Gautam, who was hell-bent on unitied the left-wing parties, later announced the formation of his own party, the National Unity Campaign.
President Nepal told Gautam that they would keep discussions open and move forward accordingly.
Following the meetings with Gautam and Thakur, Nepal-led United Socialist held a Secretariat meeting, which also decided to move forward by bringing the left parties within its fold.
The Secretariat meeting of the United Socialist also discussed giving continuity to the ruling coalition and forming a government under the leadership of a common candidate.
Jagannath Khatiwada, head of Publicity Department and deputy general secretary, said the meeting also touched upon the review of election results, contemporary politics and the role to be played by the party in the future.
