General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, Gagan Kumar Thapa, did not attend the meeting of the high-level political mechanism called by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

However, the reason why he abstained from the meeting is yet to be disclosed.

A few days ago, Thapa alleged that Prime Minister Oli gave brokers (middlemen) unchecked access to his bedroom, which irked Prime Minister Oli. Meanwhile, CPN (UML) leaders have also been criticizing Thapa for his statement.

Prime Minister Oli has called the meeting of the high-level political mechanism of the ruling parties to hold discussions on the government's policies and programs to be presented on May 12.

The meeting is taking place at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar this afternoon. It is being attended by Prime Minister Oli, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Vice-President Purna Bahadur Khadka, Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, and UML Senior Vice-Chairman Ishwar Pokharel.

Also attending the meeting include General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, Deputy General Secretaries Pradip Kumar Gyawali and Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party Chairman Mahantha Thakur, and Janata Samajbadi Party Chairman Ashok Kumar Rai, among others.
