The 'Joint People's Movement Committee for the Restoration of the Monarchy', a monarchist committee led by Nawaraj Subedi, has withdrawn the Kathmandu Valley shutdown program scheduled for today (June 2).
Issuing a second statement, the Committee said, "Given all our leaders and cadres detained during the protest on June 1 have been released, we hereby inform you that the Valley shutdown program scheduled for June 2 has been withdrawn."
Earlier, the Committee had issued a statement on Sunday evening announcing a Valley shutdown for today, accusing the government of suppressing its leaders and cadres.
However, after police released Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa, RPP lawmaker Deepak Singh, and five others, who were arrested for violating the prohibited zone on Sunday, RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden declared that his party would not participate in the Valley shutdown scheduled for today.
Immediately after this, the committee coordinated by Subedi also withdrew the shutdown program.
