The federal government has decided to recommend Gandaki Province to suspend the ride-sharing regulations.
A meeting held at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, which lasted until 11:15 PM last night, reached a 7-point agreement.
A talks team led by Krishna Raj Pant, joint secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, will send a recommendation letter to the Prime Minister's Office through the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure.
The transport entrepreneurs' protest will only end after Gandaki Province suspends the regulations upon the federal government's request.
"An agreement has been reached within the task-force," said talks team coordinator Krishna Raj Pant, "The protest will be withdrawn once the Nepal government makes the request to the province based on the task force's agreement."
Transport entrepreneurs have maintained their stance that the protest will not be withdrawn until the provincial government suspends the regulations, even though an agreement has been reached with the talks team.
"There has been a 7-point agreement with the government-formed talks team," said Saroj Sitaula, Senior Vice-President of Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE), "It has been agreed to recommend the suspension of the ride-sharing regulations. The protest will be withdrawn immediately after the province suspends them temporarily."
Sitaula further said that the protest will continue until Gandaki Province withdraws the regulations. "Entrepreneurs will resume operating their vehicles as soon as the ride-sharing regulations are withdrawn."
