Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka has separately held discussions with top leaders in the ruling coalition for the formation of a new government.

He met CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and CPN (United Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal separately on Saturday morning.

NC Vice President Khadka said he called on Maoist Center Chair Prachanda in Khumaltar and Unified Socialist Chair Nepal in Koteshwar separately this morning.

"I separately met leaders Prachanda and Nepal in the morning. Senior NC leader Ram Chandra Poudel has also met Prachanda," Khadka told Nepalkhabar, "We are unanimous in continuing the alliance. A coalition meeting is being held at 4 pm today. We will sort out the matter."

Earlier in the day, senior leader Poudel also held talks with Maoist Center Chair Prachanda on government formation.

Top leaders of the ruling coalition are to continue talks later today as well to stike an agreement on government formation. The top leaders share differing views on who should lead the government during the initial period of government.

Although the ruling coalition partners have continued discussions to stake claim to the premiership by garnering majority, the NC and the Maoist Center seem to be at odds on the leadership of the new government.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has given the political parties represented in the House of Representatives deadline of 5 pm on Sunday to form a new government.
