Political parties have begun collecting signatures of lawmakers as the deadline for President Bidya Devi Bhandari's call for government formation approaches near.

The signature collection campaign comes amid inconclusive talks of the ruling parties to giving shape to the next government.

The top leaders of the ruling five-party alliance failed to take any formal decision at a meeting held at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar on Saturday evening.

Government formation is becoming tricker as the Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN (Maoist Center) are sticking their stance of leading the initial term of the government.

Speaking to the media after the meeting ended today, Minister of Communication and Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, who is also the spokesperson for the government, said that a decision will be taken tomorrow (Sunday) morning afer holding another meeting.

"Things are good so far. Serious discussions on contemporary political developments took place for the first time after election results," Karki said.

He said that many issues were seriously and those discussions were positive. "Today's meeting concluded by agreeing to respect the people's mandate," he said.

He added, "The issue of Prime Minister is a minor one. Advancing the country as per aspirations of the people is important. The government will be formed under the leadership of the coalition."

He was of the view that the coalition could take a decision by tomorrow (Sunday) since it would also have a constitutional obligation. "There is an obligation to execute a decision tomorrow."

The deadline for President Bidya Devi Bhandari's call for government formation expires at 5 pm tomorrow (Sunday).
