Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu has refuted media reports about the meetings between Charge de’affaires (CDA) of the Chinese Embassy Wang Xin and top Nepali leaders.
Issuing a press release on Saturday, the embassy stated that Wang Xin did not hold any meeting with CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda and Janata Samajbadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav as reported by a section of media.
“The relevant news reports are totally baseless. Charge de’affaires (CDA) Wang has not met Nepali leaders as reported by a section of Nepali media,” Zhang Si, Second Secretary at the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu said in the press release on Saturday.
Some online portals reported on Friday about the meeting between Wang and Nepali leaders accusing the Chinese diplomat of interfering in Nepal's internal political affairs ahead of the government formation.
Even before the announcement of election results, Indian ambassador Naveen Srivastava and US Ambassador Dean Thompson held a series of meetings with the ruling and opposition party leaders to enquire about the to-be-formed government.
Srivastava and Thompson met Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Maoist Chairman Prachanda at least twice in the past three weeks. Thompson met Deuba last week only.
