A meeting of the ruling coalition, which is trying to reach a consensus for the formation of a new government, is being held today as well.

CPN (Maoist Center) General Secretary Dev Gurung informed that the meeting would take place at around 10 am at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar.

But will the coalition reach an agreement on the formation of the government today?

Responding to Nepalkhabar's query this morning, General Secretary Gurung said, "Let's see what happens as we have a meeting at around 9 to 10 in the morning today."

Earlier, the meeting of the coalition on Saturday evening ended inconclusively.

Minister of Communication and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has said the top leaders of the five-party alliance last evening discussed the election results and the future strategy and further discussions would take place this morning.

Karki also claimed that the alliance would continue in the to-be-formed government.

Top leaders of the Nepali Congress, the Maoist Center, the CPN (United Socialist) and Rastriya Janamorcha attended last evening's meeting.

The deadline given by the President to the parties to claim the formation of the new government is ending at 5 pm today.

The parties are constitutionally bound to stake claim for the post of Prime Minister today. Meanwhile, signature collection campaign is underway to garner majority to stake claim.
