The Suketar Airport of Taplejung district has not come into operation for the past two weeks.

Not a single flight has resumed from this airport since June 13. The Nepal Airline Corporation had resumed flights at the airport from second week of this April after four months.

Station In-charge of NAC, Taplejung, Narayan Kumar Karki, said four flights were cancelled since June 15 due to low visibility and fog following the start of monsoon season.

Passengers have been facing problems after Kathmandu-Taplejung flights operated on Monday and Friday weekly continued to be cancelled.

Karki shared, "Adverse weather is one of the reasons behind non-operation of the flights. They are compelled to stop the flights due to safety reason."

Number of air passengers has started decreasing in lack regular flights and they have been compelled to travel a long distance by road. The locals have been demanding alternative to air service as well as trustworthy transport service after problem of flight disruption recurs in every rainy season.
