Nepali Congress (NC) leader Bimalendra Nidhi has held separate discussions with CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli and CPN (Maoist Center) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.
After calling on UML Chair Oli last evening, Nidhi reached Khumaltar this morning to discuss government formation with Maoist Center Chair Prachanda.
In today's meeting, Nidhi urged Prachanda to allow the NC to lead the government in the first phase. However, the Maoist chair reiterated that he should get NC support to lead in the initial phase of the next government.
Leader Nidhi briefed NC leaders about the mood of the two leaders in Baluwatar this morning, before the coalition meeting began.
Meanwhile, the ruling coalition meeting is underway and the ruling parties are discussing who should lead the government first.
Before the coalition meeting kicked off this morning, Prachanda and NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, also the incumbent Prime Minister, held one-on-talks to narrow out differences between them over the leadership of the government.
Later, another prominent leader of the coalition Madhav Kumar Nepal also joined Prachanda and Deuba.
The ruling coalition parties are obligated to reach an agreement on government formation and leadership as the President's call to form government expires at 5 pm today.
