Respected leader of the CPN (Unified Socialist) Party Jhala Nath Khanal has said that the ruling five-party alliance would not move ahead.

Leader Khanal, in a brief conversation with Nepalkhabar after the meeting of the ruling coalition held at the Prime Minister's residence Baluwatar, said, "The ruling parties could not reach an agreement in Baluwatar. If Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba does not change his mind in the next two or three hours, the journey of the alliance ends."

Deuba along with NC leaders took the stance of holding onto both the posts of Head-of-State and Head-of-government, saying they received the highest number of seats in the Lower House in the November 20 elections.

CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', who sought NC's support to lead the next government as part of the coalition, turned towards the CPN (UML) after failing to reach an agreement in the ruling coalition.

Earlier, the UML had offered Prachanda to be the Prime Minister.
