Eighteen people have gone missing in the swollen Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa district on Tuesday morning.
Those missing in the flooded river include 12 Nepali people including three police personnel, and six Chinese nationals, according to the District Police Office, Rasuwa
The three police personnel missing in the flooded river are Assistant Sub Inspector of Nepal Police, Lal Bahadur Shrestha 42, of Likhu Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-4, Ramechhap, police constable Munna Thakur, 24, of Pheta Rural Municipality-1, Bara, and Police Constable Lokendra Bohara, 23, of Bungal Municipality-9, Bajhang. All the three police personnel were from Area Police Office, Timure, Rasuwa.
Similarly, six Chinese nationals who went missing in the swollen river have been identified as Yu Yue, Li Huaqing, Yang Chuan, Yu Hai Hang, Jou Yong and You Xiao Qiu, according to the police. All of them are males.
Likewise, Nepali nationals missing in the floods include Jipan Chaudhary, 36, Santosh Dait, 35, of Buddhi Ram Tharu, 25, Lakshi Narayan Tharu, 24, Suresh Tharu, 30, of Bardiya, Narendra BK of Baglung, Phurba Lama of Sindhupalchowk, Govinda Muktan (mixture driver) and Hilux driver Lokman Tamang.
Meanwhile, the Armed Police Force has informed that the body of a man was found on the banks of a river in Uttargayadham, Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5, Rasuwa.
According to District Police Office, Rasuwa, the heavy rainfall that occurred in the Chinese territory triggered floods in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-2, Rasuwagadhi around at 3 AM today. The flood swept away the Miteri Bridge, which connects Nepal and China, halting all cross-border movement since 4 AM today.
Additionally, the flood washed away 7-8 vehicles parked at an EV charging station in Gosaikunda-2. The Rasuwa Customs Office yard and the dam of the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project have also been damaged, police informed.
