CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ stakes claim for the post of prime minister at Sheetal Niwas.

CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has staked claim for the post of prime minister before the President at Sheetal Niwas on Sunday evening. 

Prachanda submitted his claim for the top post with the support of 169 members of the parliament (MPs) from seven political parties with President Bidya Bhandari on Sunday evening.

President Bhandari had called on the parties to stake claim for the formation of the new government by 5 pm Sunday. 

CPN (UML), Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Janata Samajbadi Party (RJP), Janamat Party, and Nagarik Unmukti Party have lent support to Prachanda. 

Prachanda is sure to command majority with 169 lawmakers in the House of Representatives.
