CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli said although he invited former President Bidya Devi Bhandari to Baluwatar for a meeting, she expressed her intent to visit the party office in Chyasal instead. As a result, the meeting took place in Chyasal, said Oli.
Addressing a central committee (CC) meeting that started at the central party office in Chyasal, Lalitpur on Monday, Chair Oli said the meeting between the Prime Minister and the former President was not a big issue.
"I met with Bidya Bhandari on Sunday. The meeting lasted for one hour and four minutes. I invited her to Baluwatar for a meeting but she expressed her intent to visit the central party office. Hence, the meeting took place at Chyasal," said Oli.
Meanwhile, he urged the leaders not to speak on behalf of Bhandari saying that it was unnecessary. "The meeting between the Prime Minister and the former President is not a big issue. Some leaders have become spokespersons for her. Why is it necessary?" questioned Oli.
Similarly, he further said that he suggested some ways for former President Bhandari during the meeting. But he did not get any responses from Bhandari so far.
"I suggested some ways for her during the meeting," said Oli, "She has not responded yet."
