A first cabinet meeting called by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is taking place at Singha Durbar.
The meeting was called after Prime Minister Prachanda formed an eight-member cabinet today.
Eight ministers including Prime Minister Prachanda were appointed and administered oath of office and secrecy today.
Earlier, the meeting of the newfound seven-party ruling coalition held at the Parliament building in New Baneshwar today decided to make Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), the DPM along with providing him with the Home Ministry.
The coalition decided to bestow the DPM portfolio to Maoist Center's Senior Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Vice Chair of CPN (UML) Bishnu Poudel.
However, ministries of to-be-DPMs Shrestha and Poudel is yet to be decided. There is a strong possibility that Poudel will be assigned the Ministry of Finance. However, it is not known which ministry would be given to Shrestha.
RSP Chair Lamichhane claimed the Ministry of Home Affairs and DPM in the ruling coalition meeting earlier today.
