Prez Bhandari calls HoR meeting for Jan 9

PM Prachanda prepares to take vote of confidence

President Bidya Bhandari has summoned a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on the recommendation of the cabinet for January 9.

A cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to recommend the President to call the parliament meeting.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' recommended President Bhandari to call the meeting in line with the decision.

According to the decision, the meeting will take place at 1 pm. The governent led by Prachanda is making preparations to take the vote of confidence in the meeting. 

This is going to be the first house meeting following the completion of the twin elections on November 20.

At least 138 members of the parliament (MPs) are required to form a simple majority of the government.  President Bhandari appointed Prachanda as the 44th prime minister of Nepal in accordance with Article 76 (2) of the constitution on Sunday.

Prachanda laid claim for the post of prime minister with the support of 169 lawmakers from seven parties. The prime minister of the government formed in line with this provision has to take the vote of confidence within 30 days.
