Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Ashokraj Sigdel is scheduled to visit Hua Hin in Thailand to participate in the Chiefs of Defense Conference.

According to a press statement issued by the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepali Army (NA), CoAS Sigdel is leaving for Thailand today to participate in the conference set to take place from August 26-28.

The event is going to be held jointly by the Royal Thai Armed Forces and the United States Indo-Pacific Command.

The Nepali Army has been regularly participating in this annual conference since 1999. The NA said that the event will serve as a platform for military chiefs from participating countries to deliberate and interact with and exchange ideas on the current global security situation, technology, strategic thinking, and other contemporary issues.

The NA is confident that such an event would help further strengthen the bilateral military relations and would positively contribute to Nepal's foreign policy.

A contingent of NA on Sunday offered a guard of honor to CoAS Sigdel before he left for Thailand, read the press statement issued by the Directorate.

Chief of General Staff Nirmal Kumar Thapa will serve as the Acting Army Chief in the absence of CoAS Sigdel, the press statement said.
