Heavy rainfall likely in some places of five provinces today

The low-pressure monsoon trough is in its average position at present and there is also an impact of water vapor from the Arab Sea and the Bay of Bengal, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

The Division stated that the weather shall remain generally cloudy nationwide today and some areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces and some other places of the country's hilly and tarai regions and the moderate rainfall is likely in other parts.

Likewise, there are chances of heavy rainfall in one or two areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, the Division mentioned.

Later tonight, the weather will remain generally cloudy throughout the country and the moderate rain is likely to occur in Koshi, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces and different parts of the country's hilly and tarai regions. Also, there are chances of heavy rainfall in one or two places of Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The rainfall may trigger landslides and debris flow along with floods in the streams, the Division stated, while urging the communities to remain alert with preparedness.
