Two girls drowned in a pond at Surunga municipality-2 in Saptari district today.
The deceased have been identified as Sustika Chaudhary, a seven-year-old daughter of Surendra Chaudhary, and Ashaki Chaudhary, an 11-year-old daughter of Keshar Chaudhary.
Both the girls died after they drowned in the pond while bathing, shared Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Jitendra Kumar Basnet.
Locals informed the police about the incident. Further investigation into the incident was underway, added police.
