The government has barred security officers from meeting with leaders of political parties.

The Home Ministry has made it mandatory for security officers to take permission from the concerned department before meeting with leaders and diplomatic officers.

Issuing a press note on Thursday, Fanindra Pokharel, the spokesperson at the Home Ministry, said security officials have to take prior consent if they want to meet political leaders or diplomatic officers.

If anyone found meeting with leaders of political leaders and heads of diplomatic missions without prior permission will face action, according to the press note.

Nepal Police and Armed Police Force are under the Home Ministry.

National Investigation Department has been placed under the Office of the Council of Ministers while that of Nepali Army is under the Defense Ministry.
