Bagmati Province lawmakers take oath

Lawmakers of Bagmati Province Assembly taking oath of office and secrecy on Thursday.

The members of Bagmati Province Assembly have taken oath of office and secrecy on Thursday.

Septuagenarian Ram Prasad Dhungana, the eldest member of the assembly, administered oath of office and secrecy to them amidst a ceremony.

Dhungana, 72, administered the oath to the provincial lawmakers in accordance with Article 182 (5) of the constitution and the Section 75 (1) of the Province Assembly Elections Act, 2074 BS.

Dhungana took the oath as the eldest member from the Head of Bagmati Province Yadav Chandra Sharma on Wednesday itself.

There are a total of 110 lawmakers including 66 under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) category and 44 proportional representation (PR) category.

Fifteen of them have taken the oath in mother tongues.

In the Bagmati Province Assembly, there are 37 lawmakers from Nepali Congress, 21 from CPN (Maoist Center), 27 from CPN (UML), 13 from Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), 7 from CPN (Unified Socialist), 3 from Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) and 2 from Hamro Nepali Party.
