Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has blamed Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba and incumbent Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ for the dissolution of the five-party alliance.
In a brief interview with local journalists on Thursday morning at the Koirala residence in Biratnagar, leader Koirala criticized his party President Deuba for his short-sightedness and Maoist chairman Prachanda's ambition to become the prime minister.
"The ruling coalition had agreed to prolong it for a long period", Koirala added, "but sadly it could not be continued. The major cause for this was the party president, as well as the Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda’s ambition for the position of prime minister.”
He said that the NC is weak in making decisions and added that Koirala stated that the issues that contributed to the alliance's dissolution will be divulged gradually.
Since the NC is a major force, it would now serve as the opposition in the House of Representatives and on the streets.
When there was talk of forming a government from the five-party coalition, Deuba and Prachanda did not agree on who would be the next prime minister.
As a result, the Maoist Center eventually established the government with the assistance of seven parties, including the CPN (UML).
