Nine highways blocked due to floods and landslides in three provinces

Nine major highways in three provinces have been blocked due to floods and landslides caused by incessant rainfall in various parts of the country on October 3 and 4.

Police Headquarters stated that nine highways in Koshi, Bagmati and Karnali provinces have been blocked due to the disaster.

The Koshi Highway has been obstructed at Barunkhola, Ward No 4, Bhotkhola Rural Municipality and at Ekuwa, Ward No 3, Makalu Rural Municipality in Sankhuwasabha district.

Floods and landslides have blocked the Mechi Highway at Rajduwali at Ward No 9 of Ilam Municipality, Ilam and the Tamor Corridor at Nawakhola at Ward No 2 of Tumbewa Rural Municipality, Panchthar, said the police central spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General Binod Ghimire.

Similarly, a section of the Pasang Lhamu Highway in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality Ward No 2, Rasuwa, the BP Highway at Mamtikhola in Roshi Rural Municipality Ward No 11, Kavrepalanchowk, and the BP Highway at Nepalthok in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality Ward No 1, Sindhuli, have also been blocked.

Spokesperson Ghimire said that the Karnali Corridor highway is completely blocked at Ward No 5 of Kharpunath Rural Municipality in Humla and at Jugenikhola of Ward No 8, Pachaljharana Rural Municipality in Kalikot.

Police said one-way traffic has been opened on the Koshi Highway in Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality Ward No 1 of Dhankuta district and the Kanti Highway at Baguakhola in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality Ward No 8 and at Ghattepakha in Bakaia Rural Municipality Ward No 11 in Makwanpur district.
