Govt recalls ambassadors from 11 countries in sweeping diplomatic shakeup

Majority are political appointees

The government has decided to call back 11 ambassadors appointed to various Nepali diplomatic missions abroad.

A cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sushila Karki took a decision to this effect.

They have been instructed to return home by November 6, 2025, Communications Minister Jagdish Kharel told Nepalkhabar.

Those called back are Krishna Prasad Oli from China, Shail Rupakheti from Germany, Dhan Prasad Pandit from Israel, Dr Netra Prasad Timalsina from Malaysia, and Ramchandra Paudel from Qatar.

Similarly, Janga Bahadur Chauhan from Russia, Naresh Bikram Dhakal from Saudi Arabia, Shanil Nepal from Spain, Chandra Kumar Ghimire from Britain, Lokdarshan Regmi from America and Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi from Japan have been recalled.

While many are political appointees, some are career diplomats.
