District Administration bans 'Deusi-bhailo' after 9 pm during Tihar

The District Administration Office, Kathmandu has urged one and all not to engage in activities prohibited by law on the occasion of Deepawali.

The Office has requested through a public notice to take precautions when using candles, lights and electric lights for illuminating houses and business facilities during the Tihar festivities, and not to buy, sell, transport, store or use firecrackers or any other explosive and inflammable materials for firework purposes.

The public has been urged to conduct programs such as Deusi-Bhailo in a dignified, disciplined and organized manner, limiting activities to only until 9 pm and ensuring that they are carried out in a way that does not cause any complaints, while celebrating the Deepawali festival.

“Performing of Deusi-Bhailo cultural programs in a way that obstructs public traffic on roads is not allowed. No type of ritualistic 'puja mandap' altar or Deepawali festival ground that hinders the movement of the general public is permitted at public places, foot path, or roads,” the notice stated.

The District Administration Office has also urged everyone to avoid illegal transactions and fraud in the name of lottery, gambling, online shopping, and electronic means.

The Office has also drawn attention of all to not carrying more passengers than the capacity in vehicles, not driving under the influence of intoxicants, not charging more than the prescribed fare, and adhering to and enforcing traffic rules.
