Only two of the three people who died in the Bolero jeep accident in Solukhumbu on Thursday evening have been identified. Six other people were injured in the accident.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Manojit Kunwar of the District Police Office, Solukhumbu, the Bolero jeep, carrying 11 people and traveling from Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality toward Mahakulung Rural Municipality, met with an accident around 6:30 pm.
The vehicle plunged approximately five hundred meters from the road at a place called Bhirkuna, located on the border of Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality.
Kunwar informed that among the deceased, only the 16-year-old Habi Rai and 20-year-old Shanti Rai, both from Cheskam, Mahakulung Rural Municipality-3, have been identified. "The identity of one deceased girls has not yet been established; we are trying to identify her," said DSP Kunwar.
The condition of the injured driver, 32-year-old Shridhwaj Rai, a resident of Mahakulung-3, is critical.
Other injured individuals include 16-year-old Ganga Rai, 18-year-old Bastikala Rai, 16-year-old Samaya Rai, 16-year-old Sajana Rai, and 10-year-old Umesh Rai, all from Mahakulung-4.
The police reported that the injured are being treated at Phaplu District Hospital. Two people in the accident were unhurt.
The police stated that the vehicle, which had gone to Mapya to pick up passengers heading to Mahakulung from Khumbu, met with the accident while returning.
