General Secretaries of the Nepali Congress, Gagan Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma, have said it is time to make honest review of the unfolding political situation.

Rising above biasness with restraint is equally important at present, they stressed.

The General Secretaries duo pointed out the need for open and transparent discussion to chart future roadmap by identifying the causes. The mistakes and carelessness in the party should be discussed well, according to them.

Issuing a joint press statement on the occasion of the National Reconciliation Day today, Thapa and Sharma argued the party needs a serious self-compunction and future action being well informed on the unfolding national activities. They reminded the relevance of reconciliation policy of the people's leader BP Koirala at present too.

"NC became the largest political party by securing highest votes in the November 20 election, but inadequate homework and recklessness led to losing government leadership," they said, adding at least the party did not emerge as a dishonest alliance partner.

The General Secretaries also recalled that the NC faced numerous challenges and difficulties in its glorious history while giving outlet to the country. We have no excuse to take present situation only as a crisis. It should, however, be utilized as the opportunity to the party cleanse and renaissance.

They also vowed to make the party organization dynamic and smooth. Thapa and Sharma also demanded policy convention as per party statute.

Time has come again for all to be alert and active for changed and strong Nepali Congress. They called party leaders, sister organizations and well wishing organizations to contribute from their sides to transform the party.

The NC will always remain alert to defeat the authoritarian and extremist thoughts, they asserted in the statement. Moreover, they viewed Nepal's prosperity is possible with balanced relations, robust nationality and democracy and good governance.
