Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ inaugurated the Pokhara Regional International Airport (PRIA) amidst a grand ceremony in Pokhara today.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister unveiled a plaque marking the official inauguration of the airport.
The Prime Minister arrived in Pokhara this morning to attend the inauguration ceremony. He is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bishnu Paudel.
PRIA is flagship project of Nepal-China Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation.
Marking the occasion of the New Year and PRIA inauguration, Charge de Affaires of Chinese Embassy in Nepal Wang Xin said, "PRIA is the dream of the people of Pokhara for 50 years. The airport is designed and built according to Chinese standards, which reflects the high quality of Chinese engineering, and symbolizes the national honor of Nepal."
On the ocassion, he also wished the Nepali people happiness and health, and hoped the friendship between China and Nepal would last forever.
"Pokhara International Airport has been highly valued by the leaders of China and Nepal. The new airport will become a vivid practice and a powerful witness of working together to achieve common development and prosperity," the Chinese embassy said.
It added, "China will remove restrictions to enter China from January 8 and resume the outbound travel of Chinese citizens in orderly manner. Will greatly contribute to 'Nepal tourism decade (2023-2032) strategic action plan'."
