Home Minister Lamichhane directs for efficient service delivery

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane has issued directives for making the service delivery prompt and efficient, giving no room for public complaint.

Addressing a virtual meeting of office bearers, including the Chief District Officers and the district-based security chiefs, from the Home Ministry today, he instructed to deliver services so that there is no room for public complaint and to protect the citizens from disaster-related incidents, cold wave included.

Chief District Officer of Lalitpur, Jaya Narayan Acharya shared that they got instruction from the Home Minister to make the service delivery of the home administration prompt and proficient, and to carry out works for protecting the lives of citizens from natural calamities as cold wave and others in the wake of increasing cold.

According to CDO Acharya, the Home Minister also urged the home administration to maintain peace and law and order, and not to make any compromise in crime control.

"The Minister has issued directives mainly on topics as maintaining good governance, making the service delivery effective, corruption control, prevention of smuggling and disaster management," CDO of Kathmandu, Ghanshyam Upadhyay said, adding that the DPM and Home Minister asked to write to the ministery whenever intervention was needed.

According to CDO Upadhyay, the Minister has instructed the CDOs to be in ready position for reducing the risk from the cold wave in the Tarai and from snowfall in the high mountainous region.

The Minister also informed the meeting that the Ministry will take initiatives for the required coordination and management to be prepared for disaster management so that no citizen will have to lose life due to the increasing cold.

He has urged the bodies concerned to provide services always keeping the complaints and concerns of the citizens in high priority, expand the accessibility of services, making the services technology-friendly and adopting amiable behavior.

The Home Minister directed the subordinate officials not to be swayed by the undue pressure or influence of any person or mechanism as he himself and his party were committed to adopting 'zero tolerance' towards corruption with a view to promoting good governance.

He has ordered to do away with the delay in service delivery, cumbersomeness and facing terse behavior the citizens come across while accessing services from the State.

Moreover, the Home Minister stated that his attention was drawn towards the citizens who have been the victims of usury practice throughout the country and that they have not got justice.

CDO Upadhyay said that the Home Minister instructed the officials to make more efficient and streamlined the regular service delivery, including the issuance of citizenship, the national identity cards, among other services, provided from the District Administration Office as well as the maintenance of law and order through the police.
