CPN (Unified Socialist) Party Chairman Madhav Kumar, who has been undecided about supporting the government, has called on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' at the latter's office in Singha Durbar.

After attending a program of Youth Association Nepal today, Chair Nepal has reached Singha Durbar to meet PM Prachanda.

It is to be noted that in the Youth Association's program, the Unified Socialist chair had urged to let the matter of extending support to government remain in suspense till January 10 – the date set for PM Prachanda to secure vote of confidence in parliament.

He said that they are not in a hurry to make a decision as the political situation was not clear.

"The political scenario has to be clear, we do not know what kind of policy the government will take," he said earlier. "They will tell you to support Prachanda by looking at his face, but things do not work like that. There are lots of things to be considered."

A source said PM Prachanda and Nepal are discussing support for the ruling seven-party coalition government.

Though the Unified Socialist held a four-day long meeting, the party did not take any decision on whether to join the government.

Leader Nepal is apparently dissatisfied with Prachanda for not consulting him when the latter approached the CPN (UML) to form a new seven-party alliance by breaking the then five-party alliance led by the Nepali Congress (NC).

Party spokesperson Jagannath Khatiwada on Tuesday said that the Unified Socialist has not made any decision about joining the government as it has not received any formal proposal for the same.

Chair Nepal-led Unified Socialist Party has won 10 first-past-the-post seats in November 20 parliamentary elections. However, the party did not obtain the status of a national party as it could not meet the 3 percent votes' threshold towards proportional representation category.

The Unified Socialist, which was tagging along with the NC and the Maoist Center, is in disarray after the collapse of the then NC-led five-party alliance.

Meanwhile, the party is taking initiative to unite with the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) and there is buzz that it is in talks even with the UML for unity.

The party seems to have concluded that there is no possibility of unity with Maoist Center in near future. The four-day long party meeting also decided that there was no immediate possibility of unity with anyone.
