Main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has called a meeting of its parliamentary party (PP) for Saturday.

According to Krishna Prasad Paudel, the chief secretary of the NC’s central party office, the PP meeting will take place at 1 pm on Saturday.

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba has been appointed as the PP leader of the party and Ramesh Lekhak as the chief whip.

The NC has called the PP meeting at a time when Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, is taking the vote of confidence on January 10.

Dahala was appointed as the prime minister with the backing of 169 members of the parliament (MPs) including three independent lawmakers on December 25.

The NC’s PP meeting will chalk out a strategy for the same, sources have said.

Deuba is holding talks with the leaders of some political parties prior to the PP meeting.

He has held a meeting with Upendra Yadav, the chairman of Janata Samajwadi Party today.

Similarly, he held talks with Deputy General Secretary of the CPN (Maoist Center) Janardan Sharma on Wednesday morning.

The then ruling five-party alliance broke up on December 25 after the NC did not accept Maoist Center Chairman Dahal as the prime minister of Nepal.
