President Donald Trump has issued a heavily worded social media post, vowing to "massively blow up" Iran’s primary energy infrastructure if the Islamic Republic continues to target neutral neighbors in the escalating Middle East conflict.
The ultimatum follows a chaotic 24-hour period of missile exchanges between the regional powers. On Wednesday night, Israeli forces launched a violent strike against the South Pars gas field, the crown jewel of Iran’s energy sector. In immediate retaliation, Iran struck Ras Laffan in Qatar—the world’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing hub—erroneously believing Qatar was complicit in the Israeli operation.
In a lengthy and heavily worded post on Truth Social, President Trump distanced the United States from the initial Israeli maneuver while drawing a firm red line around Qatari soil.
"The United States knew nothing about this particular attack," Trump wrote, asserting that Qatar was "in no way, shape, or form involved." He characterized Iran’s decision to strike Ras Laffan as an "unjustified" act of aggression against an innocent nation.
The President stated that while Israel would refrain from further hits on the South Pars field for now, that restraint is contingent on Iranian behavior. Trump warned that any further hostility toward Qatar would be met with a disproportionate US military response.
"I will not hesitate to authorize an amount of strength and power that Iran has never seen or witnessed before. We will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field." (with inputs from BBC)
