A meeting of the Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party (PP) is taking place today to form its view on the CPN (Maoist Center) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda-led government.
'Prachanda', who became the prime minister with the support of seven political parties, including CPN (UML), and 169 MPs, including 3 independents, is taking the vote of confidence in the House of Representatives on January 10.
The NC is hold its PP meeting to decide on whether to vote in favor or against the new formed government after the party's exit in the parliament.
The NC said that the meeting will be held today at 1 pm at the NC PP office in Singha Durbar.
NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba has been elected the leader of the PP and Ramesh Lekhak has been nominated as the chief whip of the party.
In the week that passed, Deuba had been holding talks with some leaders of the incumbent ruling coalition.
Deuba had held discussion with Deputy General Secretary of the ruling Maoist Center Janardan Sharma on Wednesday morning and with Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Chairman Upendra Yadav on Thursday.
The NC, which had formed an alliance with the Maoist Center, and contested the local level, House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly elections, was limited to the opposition despite emerging as the largest party in the House after it was unable to accept Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda as the Prime Minister on December 25.
Subsequently, the alliance was broken and Prachanda allied with UML-led coalition and became the prime minister. As a result, the NC was ousted from power.
